Our Services

From Ecological Understanding to Practical Action

Science-led environmental and sustainability solutions, shaped to the scope each project demands — a focused assessment, a strategic plan, or end-to-end delivery.

What We Offer

Environmental and Sustainability Services

ECOFICUS delivers science-led environmental and sustainability solutions, ranging from biodiversity and carbon assessments to ecological restoration, native landscapes, soil health and sustainability reporting.

We connect field-verified evidence with practical implementation and measurable outcomes, working to the scope each project demands.

  1. A strong environmental decision begins with a clear understanding of the ecosystems, habitats, and species that shape a site.

We conduct seasonal and rapid biodiversity assessments to evaluate biodiversity metrics, habitat structures, species associations, and land-use/land-cover (LULC), alongside baseline studies benchmarked against defined reference ecosystems and ecologically sensitive landscape strategies planned to meet environmental compliance requirements.

Faunal and floral records are screened against IUCN Red List categories and Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 schedules to identify RET (rare, endangered, threatened) species and legally significant species for biodiversity management and conservation planning.

Where projects require international safeguard alignment, assessments are structured around IFC PS6's mitigation hierarchy and critical habitat screening criteria.

For clients, this means a biodiversity risk picture that holds up under scrutiny, whether from a regulator reviewing an EC/EIA submission, a lender conducting environmental due diligence, or an internal team needing a defensible basis for site planning.

Our findings translate directly into practical decisions: which areas to avoid, what mitigation is genuinely required, and where development and ecological value can coexist without costly rework later in the project cycle.

Better biodiversity information enables organisations to avoid unnecessary ecological impacts, manage environmental risk and make development decisions that are more compatible with the surrounding landscape.

  2. We work as a grassroots partner to design and implement ecological restoration solutions — from industrial sites and reclaimed mines to biodiversity parks and degraded landscapes.

Every engagement begins with a degradation and site-suitability analysis, comprising soil condition, hydrology, existing vegetation, and surrounding ecological context.

The site-suitability analysis is followed by species selection suited to local climate and soil, restoration design (including three-layered dense native plantations where appropriate), and a phased implementation plan.

We stay involved through execution, plantation mapping, site monitoring, and maintenance protocols designed to carry a site to ecological self-sufficiency.

Clients get a landscape engineered for survival and function over years, not just at handover. The outcome is a resilient ecosystem with low mortality and high long-term biodiversity value.

    CSR relevance

Alongside compliance regulations, ecological restoration is also well-suited to CSR programmes focused on afforestation, degraded-land rehabilitation and community-oriented environmental initiatives, where funders increasingly expect monitoring data, not just plantation counts.

  3. A green belt should do more than meet a regulatory condition. It should function as environmental infrastructure.

We design native green belt systems tailored to site conditions, prevailing wind and dust patterns, and surrounding land use.

We select species for canopy density, particulate-trapping leaf structure, and ecological compatibility with the local landscape, rather than defaulting to fast-growing exotics.

Implementation covers spatial planning, plantation establishment, irrigation planning where needed, and structured management protocols for the establishment period.

Designs are developed to support IGBC green building credit requirements and MoEFCC compliance conditions tied to environmental clearance.

For industrial and infrastructure clients, this delivers a green belt that functions as genuine environmental infrastructure offering measurable dust mitigation and site buffering, rather than a cosmetic requirement met on paper.

    CSR relevance

Native plantations and biodiversity-oriented green belts are a natural fit for CSR initiatives seeking visible, measurable ecological and community impact alongside a client's core industrial or institutional development.

  4. Effective environmental education should create lasting understanding, not simply fulfil an awareness requirement.

We handle strategic planning for educational awareness, curate publishable material (articles, books and other reading material), and run workshops and training programmes for schools, universities and corporate organisations.

Institutions and corporates increasingly need documented, structured environmental education to support sustainability culture and community outreach commitments, and build ecological literacy that's genuinely retained and applied.

    CSR relevance

This work is directly CSR-relevant, fitting well with environmental awareness, biodiversity awareness, and community engagement programmes.

  5. We help organisations to understand, quantify, and manage their carbon position through defensible assessment methodologies.

We assess Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in line with standard GHG accounting protocols, and evaluate existing carbon stocks across a project's landscape.

Annual carbon sequestration is computed using diameter-at-breast-height (DBH) and biomass data applied through established allometric models, with rate-of-change projections that show how sequestration potential evolves over the project lifecycle.

Our clients use this data to support internal emissions tracking, sustainability disclosures, and evaluation of nature-based carbon opportunities on land they already hold or plan to restore.

It gives finance and sustainability teams numbers they can actually stand behind in a reporting cycle or investor conversation, not just rough estimates.

Reliable carbon information enables organisations to identify priorities, track change and make better-informed decisions about emissions reduction, vegetation management and carbon enhancement.

  6. Our support spans ESG advisory and materiality assessment, along with technical reporting on biodiversity, environmental and natural-capital indicators.

Reporting support is aligned with SEBI's BRSR framework (including Core assurance requirements), GRI Standards, TNFD's LEAP approach, IFC PS6, and ADB ESS6.

We compile and structure the underlying field and technical data so that what appears in a disclosure is traceable back to a verifiable source, not a generic template answer.

Reporting quality is increasingly scrutinised by the auditors performing BRSR Core assurance, the lenders assessing nature-related risk, and the investors comparing disclosures across peers.

Clients get disclosure-ready data that stands up to that scrutiny, and a partner who can explain and defend the methodology behind every figure, not just supply the number.

Better-quality environmental data and disclosures strengthen transparency, accountability and stakeholder confidence, while helping organisations identify and manage nature-related risks and dependencies.

  7. Soil health is fundamental to vegetation, agriculture, biodiversity, water retention, and long-term land productivity.

We deliver site-specific diagnostics and interventions for erosion control, invasive species screening and removal, and soil enrichment through mulching, composting, and biological activity restoration.

We also work as a grassroots partner for organic farming operations, supporting implementation, management and quality control aligned with organic certification requirements.

The result is soil systems that hold water better, support healthier vegetation establishment, and resist the degradation cycles that undermine long-term land productivity.
